Ortega Elementary Kicks off Arts Festival Week Monday

Ortega Elementary plans to celebrate the arts during the school’s annual Arts Festival Week. The week’s activities will begin on Monday, December 12 with a visit from Kevin O’Malley, author of Testing Miss Malarkey as he speaks with students to encourage their participation in the arts.

Tuesday’s main event will be the quarterly exhibition opening and seasonal celebration from 6 to 8 p.m. Students will have the chance to showcase their artistic knowledge and talents at the exhibit as part of the Museum Studies Magnet Program.

Project Listen, the educational outreach program of Riverside Fine Arts Association, will visit Ortega Elementary on Wednesday with in-class performances.

Arts Festival Week continues with Thursday proclaimed as Museum Career Day. Visitors from local museum partners will discuss job opportunities in the arts industry with students. Fifth-graders will perform a holiday show to conclude the week’s events.
