JTA Wins Federal Clean Fuels Grant; Paves Way for First Hybrid Buses in Jacksonville

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) today announced that it has received a $4 million federal grant to purchase
hybrid buses as a part of JTA’s ongoing fleet replacement program.

The grant is funded through the Clean Fuels Grant Program Funds, a program that supports the U. S. Department of Transportation’s environmental sustainability efforts. JTA was the only Florida agency that received funds.

Jacksonville Weekly Gas Price Update Feb 21

Average retail gasoline prices in Jacksonville have risen 0.3 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.10/g yesterday. This compares with the national average that has increased 4.1 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.16/g, according to gasoline price website JacksonvilleGasPrices.com.

Average retail gasoline prices in Jacksonville have fallen 3.3 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.04/g yesterday. This compares with the national average that has fallen 0.6 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.08/g, according to gasoline price website JacksonvilleGasPrices.com.

Jacksonville Area Florida Department of Transportation Lane Closings Jan 22 - 28

I-10/I-95 interchange reconstruction project

Lanes and ramps will be closed nightly at various locations within the project limits from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Sunday, January 23 through Saturday, January 29. Detour signs will be posted. All work should be finished in early 2011.

I-10 resurfacing and widening project between Lane Avenue and Halsema Road

The I-10 eastbound on and off ramp at Chaffee Road WILL BE TOTALLY CLOSED on Thursday, January 27 between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Detour signs will be posted. Single lanes on I-10 will be closed from Sunday, January 23 through Thursday, January 27 at various locations within the project limits between 6:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. eastbound and from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. westbound. This project is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2012.

The Celebrated War of 1812 Tall Ship LYNX Arriving in Jacksonville

All law-abiding and loyal citizens are urged to be vigilant and alert to the presence on your coast of the weatherly, fast, and heavily armed Clipper Schooner Lynx. The 122-foot square top sail schooner Lynx will be sailing into Jacksonville for the first time on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 11:00 am. Join the flotilla as she fires a salute from her main battery of 6-pounder carronades upon her grand entrance into Jacksonville. The celebrated War of 1812 privateer square top sail schooner has arrived on the East Coast from Hawai’i & California and is scheduled for a five-year mission along the East Coast of the United States and Canada and will be participating in the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 and the Star-Spangled Banner.
