1st Easter Egg Drop at Westside Presbyterian Church

Join Westside Presbyterian Church on Saturday April 23, 2011 for Easter Egg Drop from 10am to 1pm.

Westside Presbyterian Church plans to drop 10,000 Easter eggs from a helicopter onto the Westside Presbyterian Church parking lot. There will be an egg hunt, bounce houses, face painting, raffles and concessions. The event will also feature live music from the Kurt Johnson Band.

Ride the Beaches Trolley FREE on Sunday, April 17

The Beaches Trolley, a year?round service running between Atlantic Beach and Jacksonville Beach, including Neptune Beach, will be FREE on Sunday, April 17 in honor of the official Opening of the Beaches for summer fun. The Beaches Trolley will run from 5:46 a.m. to 12:43 a.m. Its route covers approximately five miles with nearly 40 stops in each direction including the Atlantic Village Shopping Center, Hugenot Park, Jacksonville Beach City Hall and the South Beach Regional Shopping Center. Hop on or off at any stop without paying a thing, and leave traffic and parking hassles behind!

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District to host 2011 Safety Pays Workshop

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District Construction Division will host its annual Safety Pays workshop, May 12-13 at the Rosen Creek Resort, 9939 Universal Boulevard, Orlando, Fla.  A special lodging rate of $104 per night is available for reservations made by April 20.

Animal Care & Protective Services Part of ASPCA $100K Challenge

The City of Jacksonville’s Animal Care and Protective Services (ACPS) Division is one of 93 agencies across the nation participating in the qualifying heat of this year’s ASPCA $100K Challenge. ACPS is competing for grants totaling $300,000 from the ASPCA, including a top prize of $100,000.

The 2011 ASPCA $100K Challenge is a nationwide competition for animal shelters, and their communities, aiming to get more animals adopted or returned to their owners than ever before. The first phase is the qualifying heat, during which participating shelters compete to accumulate the most online votes from their supporters. The 50 shelters with the most votes become the official contestants for the 2011 ASCPA $100K Challenge.

Survivor Speak-Out & Art Show Tonight at 6:00 PM

The fight to end sexual violence in northeast Florida will take center stage in Jacksonville for Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM).

Survivors of sexual assault will be speaking about their experiences, struggles and triumphs in an environment that we hope will foster the courage for other victims to speak out as well. Come be a part of this celebration of personal strength and help create a place where survivors can tell their stories without fear, shame or judgment. Jacksonville Men's Chorus performing & spoken word artists delivering their lyrical works of art! Light refreshments.

Jacksonville City Rowing Championships

This Saturday, April 9, the annual youth rowing Jacksonville City Championship Regatta will be held on the Ortega River.  St. Peter’s Episcopal Church is the host site, great viewing of the races can be had from the Timuquana Bridge (Timuquana Rd/103rd St. just west of US 17.)  

After winning last week’s North Florida South Georgia Championship Regatta (vs teams from Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Savannah and Gainesville,) Stanton Riverbank Rowing defends its Jacksonville title against teams from Bolles, Episcopal, Jacksonville Rowing Club and St. Johns Country Day.  Race times begin about 8am and will wrap up mid-afternoon.
