The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) wants to know what Floridians think about providing more daylight-hunting hours to alligator hunters. The public can comment via an online survey.

November 23, 2010 The Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens, Inc. significantly enhanced it’s outreach to the community with the aid of the Florida Urban and Community Forestry Grant Program during 2010.  These funds were made available to organizations and municipalities to develop or enhance their urban and community forestry programs.

FWC Launches Database to Help Reduce Derelict Vessels

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) launched a program this week to help prevent vessels in state waterways from becoming derelict. Through the At-Risk Vessel Program, FWC officers will collaborate with local sheriffs’ offices and police departments to enter information about potential derelict vessels into a statewide database.

Celebrate Keep America Beautiful’s Annual America Recycles Day

The City of Jacksonville, Keep Jacksonville Beautiful (KJB) and Southland Recycling Services will celebrate Keep America Beautiful’s annual America Recycles Day for the first time in Jacksonville with an event to collect a host of residential recyclable materials at a centralized location.  Included in this event is the opportunity for residents to shred old /unneeded documents and give new life to used cell phones and chargers.

Workshop to Discuss an Estimated $224 Million Improvement Project Near Fuller Warren Bridge

The workshop is Tuesday, November 9 at the Duval County School Board, 1701 Prudential Drive in Jacksonville. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and public comments will begin at 6:30 p.m. A formal presentation will not be made but the public is encouraged to drop by between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. to view the latest plans and discuss the project with FDOT staff.
