World AIDS Week will be observed in Northeast Florida from Nov. 29 - Dec. 4

The Northeast Florida World AIDS Week Committee has activities planned throughout the week in its continued quest to bring awareness to HIV/AIDS in Jacksonville and surrounding areas. Education Days, a quilt display, a Community Awards ceremony, and more will take place during the week.

Jacksonville’s 4th Annual Downtown Historic Church Tour

Tour a century of sanctuaries in one afternoon at ten Downtown historic churches. Guides at each church will highlight the architectural and historical significance of the building. The tour begins and ends at the Main Library and visitors may walk or use the complimentary trolley service provided along the tour route.

Adopt an Angel for the Holidays at PACE Center for Girls, Jacksonville

PACE  Jacksonville is a non-residential prevention and intervention provider helping at-risk girls, ages 12-18.  Each year, PACE Jacksonville serves more than 200 girls in Northeast Florida through our day program and an additional 300 through Transition Services.  PACE has had proven success with girls by helping them succeed in school, with their families, and become productive in our community.  As a result of our expertise, PACE has become a nationally recognized leader in intervention and prevention programs for girls.

Duval Art Teachers Association is hosting the Fabulous Florida Flamingo Fete Silent & Live Auction

Duval County Public Schools’ teachers and local artists have donated hand-painted and embellished wood items, paintings and photographs, as well as creatively decorated holiday trees to benefit the Leslie Beddard Scholarship Fund.  The fund provides scholarships to art teachers to assist with professional development and also provides scholarships to students to attend summer art camps.

Mayor John Peyton and the City of Jacksonville invite First Coast families and their guests to see downtown in a whole new light at the 2010 Jacksonville Light Parade on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010 at 7 p.m. on the downtown riverfront.

Habitat for Humanity's Annual Fundraiser

You are invited to join Habitat for Humanity at the Annual Holiday Gala for Humanity and enjoy the 12 Tastes of Christmas, a sampling of fine food selections from the best dining St. Augustine has to offer. In its 16th year, the Gala will be held at the River House, and will be offering a tasting menu with wine pairings. Silent and live auctions, live music from local band Chillula, and dancing will all be part of the night’s festivities. Mr. Tom Crawford, Director of St Johns County Housing and Community Services, will be the esteemed Master of Ceremonies. Mr. Crawford is whom Habitat’s 34 home development, Crawford Park, is named after, and has been one of Habitat for Humanity of St. Johns County’s biggest supporters and loyal advocate for many years.
