Brunet-Garcia Documentary Honored by Telly Awards | Arts & Culture
The 33rd Annual Telly Awards recently honored Joash Brunet, writer/producer at Brunet-García Advertising, for the agency’s documentary Immunization: A Dose of Reality. The Tellys honor the finest film and video productions and excellence in local, regional and national commercials.
Brunet, who had 15 years of experience as a television producer before joining Brunet-García, wrote the script, providing insight, empathy and an unbiased journalistic expression to the increasingly controversial social issue of immunization. In addition, Brunet oversaw production and post-production duties for the hour-long program.
“The success of this documentary hinged on the expertise and passion provided by the medical experts and families who participated in this project,” says Brunet. “We feel this Telly Award honors their commitment and openness in this collaborative effort.”
The documentary, which was produced for the Florida Department of Health’s Bureau of Immunization to provide answers to frequently asked questions about immunization, was recognized in the Documentary category. It features highly regarded state and national medical experts, including Dr. Paul Offit, co-inventor of the rotavirus vaccine, and Dr. Anna Giuliano, who was instrumental in the development of the HPV vaccine, as well as families who live with the consequences of vaccine-preventable diseases. It was aired during prime-time on PBS stations across the state of Florida in the fall of 2011.
The Telly Awards also honored Brunet-García along with Jacksonville cinematographer Paul Figura for the Family Promise video Home Is… in the Social Responsibility category. To view the award-winning videos, visit the Vaccination Education Series website and the Brunet-Garcia YouTube channel.
